Het Probleem: Een taal die langzaam verstilt

Ik heb Gâu-Chá ontworpen als een digitaal avontuur. Samen met Gâu-Gâu, een eigenwijze Taiwanese hond op een scooter, neem ik kinderen mee op een reis door een prachtig geïllustreerd Taiwan.

Wat ik heb gebouwd in Gâu-Chá:

• Leren in Context: Geen saaie woordjes stampen, maar interactie op de Night Market, in de dierentuin of in de keuken van A-má.

• Interactief Stickerboek: Een door mij ontwikkeld systeem waarbij kinderen stickers verdienen en deze zelf op een interactieve kaart van Taiwan kunnen plaatsen.

• Speelse Technologie: Met games zoals de "Monkey Mimic" gebruik ik stemherkenning om kinderen te motiveren de unieke tonen van het Taiwanees echt uit te spreken.

• Voor Ouders: Een dashboard waarmee ouders de groei van hun kind kunnen volgen en samen woorden kunnen oefenen voor aan de eettafel.
• "Dual-Language Interface": De app spreekt de taal van het kind (NL of EN) terwijl het de taal van hun hart (Taiwanees) leert.

What I’ve Built in Gâu-Chá:

• Learning in Context: No boring word drills. Interaction happens at the Night Market, the Zoo, or in A-má’s kitchen.

• Interactive Sticker Book: A custom-built system where children earn stickers and place them themselves on an interactive map of Taiwan.

• Playful Technology: Using games like "Monkey Mimic," I leverage speech recognition to motivate kids to actually pronounce the unique tones of Taiwanese.

• Dual-Language Interface: The app is built to support both English and Dutch, making it accessible to heritage learners in Europe and the US.
