"Maumbe", uitgesproken als “Maumb”, is een van de vele woorden in Afrika voor water, een fundamentele levensbehoefte die helaas op veel plaatsen ontbreekt. Er zijn mensen daar die dagelijks meer dan tien kilometer moeten lopen om water te halen. Door klimaatverandering is er meer droogte en is het moeilijker om velden te irrigeren en voedsel te verbouwen. Voor veel jonge Afrikanen is dit een uitzichtloze situatie.

Billy Ossoko kwam vijfentwintig jaar geleden als vluchteling naar Nederland. Sinds 2007 is hij werkzaam als monteur en sinds tien jaar werkt hij bij het hightechbedrijf NTS in Eindhoven (www.nts-group.com). Daar kreeg hij de kans om zijn kinderdroom te realiseren: het maken van een boormachine om waterputten in Afrika te graven en zo gemeenschappen aldaar van drinkwater te voorzien.

Met de steun van collega's van NTS en met financiële, technische en materiële ondersteuning van dit bedrijf, heeft Billy Ossoko de afgelopen jaren zijn idee uitgewerkt. Het resultaat mag er zijn: een boormachine die met weinig voorkennis eenvoudig te monteren en te gebruiken is. Het apparaat kan zelfs achter een motorfiets gemakkelijk in delen worden vervoerd. Zo komt het naar de meest afgelegen gebieden waar vaak geen wegen zijn. De machine werkt zowel op benzine als op 230V elektriciteit van zonnepanelen of van een generator. Er is een gebruikershandleiding bij in het Frans en het Engels.

Deze boorinstallatie is de afgelopen tijd uitvoerig getest in Nederland. Nu de machine klaar is, wil Billy Ossoko het model ervan graag naar Afrika brengen. Zijn doel is om in Kameroen een aantal exemplaren van dit apparaat te produceren en zo verschillende plekken daar van drinkwater te gaan voorzien. Met hulp van een bureau in Kameroen stelde hij een businessplan op voor de eerste voorzieningen: het opzetten van een kleine productiefaciliteit in Douala, Kameroen, de aanschaf van een aantal onderdelen en een klein transportmiddel.

NTS financierde ook het transport van de boormachine naar Kameroen en Billy Ossoko is hier heel blij mee. Maar er is natuurlijk meer geld nodig om dit project daar van de grond te krijgen. Hiervoor is een minimumbedrag van € 25.000 berekend.

Het doel van deze crowdfunding campagne is voor dit non-profit project geld bijeen te brengen. Billy hoopt via deze actie zijn droom verder in vervulling te kunnen laten gaan.

Billy Ossoko est arrivé aux Pays-Bas il y a vingt-cinq ans en tant que réfugié. Depuis 2007, il travaille comme mécanicien et depuis dix ans, il est employé par l'entreprise de haute technologie NTS à Eindhoven (www.nts-group.com). C'est là qu'il a eu l'occasion de réaliser son rêve d'enfant : fabriquer une foreuse pour creuser des puits en Afrique et ainsi approvisionner les communautés locales en eau potable.

Avec l'aide de ses collègues de NTS et le soutien financier, technique et matériel de cette entreprise, Billy Ossoko a développé son idée au cours des dernières années. Le résultat est impressionnant : une foreuse facile à assembler et à utiliser, même avec peu de connaissances préalables. L'appareil peut même être facilement transporté en plusieurs parties à l'arrière d'une moto. Il peut ainsi être acheminé vers les régions les plus reculées, souvent dépourvues de routes. La machine fonctionne aussi bien à l'essence qu'à l'électricité 230 V provenant de panneaux solaires ou d'un générateur. Elle est accompagnée d'un manuel d'utilisation en français et en anglais.

Cette foreuse a été testée de manière approfondie aux Pays-Bas ces derniers temps. Maintenant que la machine est prête, Billy Ossoko souhaite exporter son modèle en Afrique. Son objectif est de produire plusieurs exemplaires de cet appareil au Cameroun afin d'approvisionner en eau potable différentes régions du pays. Avec l'aide d'une agence au Cameroun, il a élaboré un plan d'affaires pour les premières installations : la création d'un petit site de production à Douala, au Cameroun, l'achat de plusieurs pièces détachées et d'un petit moyen de transport.

NTS a également financé le transport de la foreuse au Cameroun, ce dont Billy Ossoko est très heureux. Mais il faut bien sûr plus d'argent pour lancer ce projet sur place. Un montant minimum de 25 000 € a été calculé à cet effet.

L'objectif de cette campagne de financement participatif est de collecter des fonds pour ce projet à but non lucratif. Billy espère que cette action lui permettra de réaliser son rêve.

The result is impressive: a drilling machine that is easy to assemble and use with little prior knowledge. The device can even be easily transported in parts behind a motorbike. This allows it to reach the most remote areas, where there are often no roads. The machine runs on petrol or 230V electricity from solar panels or a generator. It comes with a user manual in French and English.

This drilling rig has recently been extensively tested in the Netherlands. Now that the machine is ready, Billy Ossoko would like to take the model to Africa. His goal is to produce a number of these machines in Cameroon and use them to supply drinking water to various locations there. With the help of an agency in Cameroon, he drew up a business plan for the initial facilities: setting up a small production facility in Douala, Cameroon, purchasing a number of parts and a small means of transport.
