*Title: Water for 80 Children in Kakamega*
My name is Damasus Odhiambo, and I run a small NGO in Kakamega, Western Kenya. Every morning, 80 children come to our center hoping for a meal, a safe place to play, and a chance to learn.
But every morning, the first thing we do is walk 2 km to fetch water.
The water point is a muddy stream 30 minutes away. The water is brown, shared with livestock, and often makes the children sick. During dry season, the stream dries up. On those days, we send the children home early because we have nothing to cook with and nothing to drink.
I started this NGO because I was one of those children 15 years ago. I know what it feels like to sit in class with a dry throat, unable to concentrate. I also know what changes when there is clean water close by: the children stop getting sick, girls stop missing school, and the center becomes a place of hope instead of struggle.
That’s why I’m asking for help to build a 10,000-liter water tank at our center.
What this will do:
- Give 80 children safe drinking water every day
- Cut the 2-hour daily water walk so kids can spend that time learning
- Reduce waterborne illness and keep the children in school
- Cost: €2,400 total. That includes the tank, piping, and installation
Once the tank is installed, I will send you photos and a short video showing the children using it. No vague updates - just proof that your support reached them.
Dutch people have a reputation for helping quietly and directly. That’s exactly what we need here. Not a big project, not a promise for 5 years from now. Just clean water for 80 children, starting next month.
If you can help, even with €25, you’re giving one child safe water for months.
Thank you for reading this.
