Beste lezer,

Wij, Loïs, Kelshey en Marc zijn tijdens onze minor ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ in Zuid-Afrika begonnen met het doorontwikkelen van een kinderdagverblijf voor kinderen en jongvolwassenen met een mentale handicap. 

Phumelela Special Needs Care Center is gevestigd in een township (sloppenwijk) nabij Bathurst. De vorige projectgroep is er in geslaagd de leefruimte uit te breiden met 28 vierkante meter. Helaas kan het erg afkoelen in Zuid-Afrika waardoor het aangebouwde deel nog niet in gebruik kan worden genomen door gebrek aan isolatie. Ook hebben de kinderen weinig tot niets te eten voor ontbijt en lunch. Verder willen we investeren in meer educatief materiaal. 

Met jullie hulp kunnen wij isolatie aanschaffen en installeren waardoor de leefruimte aanzienlijk wordt verbreed.

Dear reader,

We, Loïs, Kelshey and Marc started with the minor ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ in South-Africa. In the following weeks, we continue to develop a children’s day care for mentally disabled children and young adults.

Phumelela Special Needs Care Center is located in a township (slum) near Bathurst. The previous project group succeeded to extend the building with an extra shack of 28 square meters. Unfortunately, South-Africa can be very chilly during winter which means that the extended part cannot be fully used so far due to lack of insulation. Also, the children have almost nothing to eat during breakfast or lunch. Furthermore, we want to invest in additional educational materials. 

With your help we can invest in insulation material and install this which enlarges the overal space which can be used.
