This is Alan McSmith. Mentor for our staff. Conservation / Consession manager Manager at The Africa Experience in Koro River Camp in Botswana. He loves elephants. Elephants allegedly listen to him. However while this little family grudgingly turns around and walk away, the other 972 elephants in our area quietly sneak behind his back into the fields of our neighbouring farmers and having a feast on the mielies and other fruits and vegetables. Destroying the livelihood of those farmers and endangering themselves.
Alan obviously can’t stop these elephants and the best simple solution is to build an elephant proof fence what keeps the elephants and lions in the wilderness areas and and out of the farm areas and villages. In such a way both the villagers as well as the elephants are protected. Normally our Foundation will raise the required funds through the income generated by the tourists visiting our Koro River & Koro Island Camp but for obvious reasons that income stream has fallen away completely.
We need Euro 200K to finalise the last 30 km of this fence and we need it fast before the elephants go looking for food in these areas. You can help by donating directly to the Timbo Africa Foundation and help us completing the fence. And if you are really interested, come and have a look as soon we are allowed to travel again. See happy elephants and happy people and enjoy a magnificent safari in the wilderness of Botswana.
